Connecting Continents, Healing lives:
Where Wellness Thrives and Health Revives.
Welcome to the Heal in Peace Foundation
At the Heal in Peace Foundation, we are on a mission to transform mental health awareness, eliminate stigma, and provide vital resources to those in need. We believe that healing begins with understanding, and we are committed to empowering individuals and communities to navigate the challenges of grief, trauma, and mental health struggles.
Through a blend of education, compassionate community support, and culturally relevant resources, we are creating spaces for healing that honor personal stories and provide accessible tools for emotional well-being. Our goal is to not only raise awareness but to actively build a resilient future where mental health is embraced, supported, and prioritized.
Whether through our flagship resource, From My Ethiopian Heart To Yours: 30-Day Journey of Healing Peacefully, community workshops, or digital content, we are dedicated to making mental health support a reachable, transformative experience. Join us in advancing this vital movement, fostering healing, and empowering those who need it most.
Providing you with a safe space to relax
The Heal in Peace Foundation was founded by Bisrat Wondemu Ware with a deep commitment to mental health awareness. Our goal is to break the stigma surrounding mental health, especially in communities where cultural challenges prevent people from seeking help. Through programs like our book From My Ethiopian Heart To Yours: 30-Day Journey of Healing Peacefully, and online resources, we aim to bring hope and healing to individuals struggling with trauma, grief, and mental health challenges.

A personal Note from our Founder.
In 2013, I received a life-altering phone call: my father was in a coma. Without hesitation, I left Chicago, where I lived at the time, and flew to Addis Ababa. Imagine the scene: my father, treated at one of the best hospitals in the city, surrounded by capable doctors yet hindered by a lack of critical resources. Essential treatments were delayed, and finding an ambulance or securing oxygen took precious time due to shortages and a lack of clear information. One desperate day, I had to rush my father to the hospital after he was recovering at home from the coma, in our private vehicle because booking an ambulance would have taken too long. Tragically, he passed away on that journey. This moment of helplessness marked the beginning of my journey toward advocating for wellness.
Hello, my name is Bisrat Wondemu Ware. I am the founder of Heal in Peace Wellness Center, where you can find healing in a peaceful space. My beloved husband and amazing father to our children was diagnosed with cancer 9 months after my father passed away. During his treatments, I advocated for his healing every single day and night for 8 years and 6 months. He went into remission 3 times until he passed away on July 26, 2021.
Throughout these years, I experienced profound frustration, confusion, and grief, and I sought knowledge to make the best decisions for my beloved. Through my research, I discovered that many families face similar struggles. This realization inspired me to establish the Heal in Peace foundation, dedicated to my late father, Wondemu Ghebre/Michael, and my late husband, Marcus Antonio Ware. Being there with them during their battles with illness and witnessing their last breaths taught me my calling: to advocate for others as well.
I’ve taken the time to allow my family and myself to heal peacefully. In my quest to accomplish that goal, I started practicing mindfulness through meditation, exercise, and seeking spiritual growth. I consider myself a Wellness Advocate. My goal and passion are to provide the resources needed to help you find peace of mind. I am dedicated to ensuring that you and your loved ones are provided with services that offer greater comfort and peace during difficult times. Your family's healing journey is my passion. I will dedicate my time, resources, and connections to support your path to healing.
Resource Development and Distribution
• We aim to make our resources accessible to everyone. By distributing 5,000 copies of our book to schools, libraries, hospitals, and community centers, we will spread awareness and provide tools for self-healing.
Workshops and Community Engagement
• We organize mental health workshops and support groups to engage directly with the community. These events are designed to address the unique needs of different groups, including women, youth, and trauma-affected individuals. We plan to host 20 workshops annually, empowering individuals with tools for emotional healing and creating spaces for open dialogue about mental health.
